Women's Soccer: Raiders Drop Double Overtime Thriller

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union women's soccer dropped a double overtime match 2-1 to Grove City (Pa.) Saturday evening at Mount Union Stadium.

Lauren Beech (Hanoverton/United Local) netted the lone goal for Mount Union while Michelle Kissane (Amherst/Steele) tallied four saves in net. Cortni Arp (Copley) led the Purple Raiders in shots with eight. 

Beech scored her second goal of the season in the 22nd minute as she slid the ball behind the keeper's reach to the lower side of the net.

The Wolverines picked up the pressure in the second half scoring in the 86th minute to tie the game. Grove City (Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in the 104th minute.

Mount Union drops to 3-4 on the season.

Despite the loss, Mount Union outshot the Grove City (Pa.) 18-16.

Mount Union starts conference play Saturday, September 29 traveling to Otterbein at 7 p.m.
