Raiders Finish 4-0 at Centre Classic

DANVILLE, Ky. -- Mount Union's volleyball team increased its winning streak to eight matches, claiming two victories at the Centre Classic on Saturday. The Purple Raiders went 4-0 at the tournament with sweeps over Hanover (Ind.) and Maryville (Tenn.).

The Raiders defeated Hanover, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17. Katie Kmieck (Lakewood/Lakewood) smacked three service aces, Sarah Dean (Strongsville/Walsh Jesuit) had 17 digs and Leah Hirsch (Frankfort/Adena) made three blocks.

In the match against Maryville -- a 25-15, 25-10, 25-19 decision -- Monica Hupertz (Willoughby Hills/Beaumont) led the attack with 14 kills while Roni Schroeder (Shelby/Shelby) came through with 10 kills and five blocks. Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) made 28 assists and Dean and Deanna Glass (Medina/Medina) finished with 24 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Mount Union volleyball team (9-4) will be in action next during its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Purple Raiders are scheduled to open conference play against Wilmington at 1 p.m. and then take on Bethany in a non-conference matchup at 5.
