Men's Swimming and Diving: Mount Union Wins Season Opener

CANTON, Ohio - Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated Malone 213-80 Friday evening.

The Purple Raiders had 12 first place finishes. Leading the way was senior duo of Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) and Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa. / Hopewell) winning three events. Ellsworth took first in the 200 butterfly, 500 freestyle, and the 400 free relay. Palochak recorded wins in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 400 relay.

Mount Union also had first place finishes from freshman Charles Marshall (Painesville, Riverside) in the 100 backstroke, sophomore Brian Regovich (Willowick / Eastlake North) in the 200 freestyle, sophomore Ronnie Milam (Uniontown / Lake) in the one meter diving, sophomore Ben Hoffmann (St. Cloud, Minn. / St. Cloud Technical) in the 200 backstroke, sophomore Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y. / St. Joseph) in the 200 breaststroke, sophomore Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton) in the 1000 freestyle and freshamn Jason Tondra (Columbia, S.C. / Irmo) in the 100 freestyle.

The Raiders have a quick turn around hosting Hiram tomorrow Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
