Women's Soccer: Raiders Tied Up at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team tied Marietta 1-1 in double overtime in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday night at Marietta.

The tie makes the Purple Raiders to 5-7-2 and 1-4-1 in the OAC while Marietta record is 7-7-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the OAC.

Marietta started the scoring early as Brooke Huffman put in a header off a corner kick in the sixth minute and the Pioneers held a 1-0 lead at the break.

Mount Union tied the game 2:31 into the second half as Sara Thomas (Barberton) put in a header and it stayed that way through regulation time.

Each team had a shot in the first overtime, while Marietta had a pair of shots in the second overtime.

Marietta held a 20-14 advantage in shots while Raider keeper Sarah Taranto (Alliance / Marlington) had nine saves in goal in her first collegiate start.

The Raiders stay on the road playing Heidelberg Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. in Tiffin.
