Women's Volleyball: Raiders Fall to #10 Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – Mount Union was swept 3-0 by No. 10 ranked Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Friday at the ONU Sports Center.

The match scores were 25-20, 25-15 and 25-15 as the Purple Raiders finish the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and at 5-4 in the OAC. Mount Union has qualified for next week's OAC Tournament and plays a quarterfinal match Tuesday, Nov. 5 at a site to be announced.

Junior Madelin DiBease (Perry) led the offense and defense with 9 kills and 12 digs. Freshman setter Katie May (Independence) tallied 14 assists.

Ohio Northern (23-5, 8-1 OAC) got 10 kills from Chelsea Huppert and the Polar Bears claimed a share of the conference regular season title with the win.

Northern jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first set. The Raiders rallied to close to within 16-13 but the Polar Bears then scored two straight points and went on to the 25-20 win.

Mount Union took its first lead of the night to start the second set as the Raiders got out to a 4-2 lead but it was short-lived as Northern went on a 5-1 run to take a 7-5 lead. The Polar Bears finished the set with an 18-10 run, winning the set 25-15.

Ohio Northern jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead in set three. The Raiders were unable to overcome the deficient. The Polar Bears took the set 25-15 and the match.
